CGROUT
CGROUT - SPW Project (SDG 9): Pre-treatment of mineral wastes and by-products for incorporation into structural and non-structural grout formulations for road, offshore wind and other applications.
Consortium: Euroquartz, CTP, Lessine UCLouvain, ULiège - PEPs.
As part of a circular economy approach in the mineral industry, the CGROUT project, included in the REMIND (REverse Mineral INDustry in Wallonia) portfolio, aims to recover mineral waste and by-products from various industrial sectors; these materials remain largely underused but can serve in construction and renewable energy applications.
The objective is to develop and optimise pretreatment processes, such as grinding, sorting, and activation, to adjust the physical and chemical properties of these secondary raw materials so they can meet the technical requirements of grout formulations.
The project places particular emphasis on offshore wind applications, a sector with increasing demand for durable and high-performance materials.
The environmental performance of the processes and final formulations will be evaluated through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), conducted by the PEPs group at the University of Liège, to support eco-design throughout the project.
