FRITCO2T

Federation of Researchers in Innovative Technologies for CO2 Transformation

FRITCO2T (Federation of Researchers in Innovative Technologies for CO2 Transformation) is a technological platform dedicated to CO2 at the University of Liège. It is resulting from the decision of four research laboratories to join their forces to accelerate the development of CO2 technologies and materials.

Resulting from the pressing environmental concerns, we think it is urgent to develop new technologies and new products enabling the capture and re-use of CO2 emissions in the benefit of the society. From the first CO2 projects conducted at ULiège about 20 years ago, our 4 research units distributed over 3 faculties, have developped complementary high-level expertises, positionning FRITCO2T at the cutting edge of this domain.

In november 2017, ULiège became a founding member of a New European Association dedicated to CO2 valorization, in which Industry and research stakeholders unite to develop innovative CO2 utilization solutions: CO2 Value Europe.

The FRITCO2T platform is composed of the four following research groups:

  • Urban and Environmental Engineering (UEE, Faculty of Applied Sciences) studies the carbonatation of construction materials (concrete, bio-based materials, recycled aggregates…).

Thanks to the technological platform FRITCO2T, ULiège positions itself as a pioneer in the research for new technologies and products related to CO2.

A presentation describing CO2 capture and re-use technologies is available here. An audio link to this same presentation made in the framework of the Collège de Belgique is available at this page.
